Daggen

Photographer: Richard CollierIn 1922 the man-made harbour Frihamnen was opened for industrial use only. This piece named Daggen is meant to work as a bridge between the tiny strip of history already created in Frihamnen. An artefact made for the newcomers to be able to create their own community as a continuation of the already existing one. By the use of the harbour workers names in the piece it aims, in a poetic manor, to pay tribute to the first group of people, the strong bonds and community they created at this specific site. Daggen - memory of the past, as a reminder to stay present in new beginnings and an awareness of the future.
