Research theme: Design & Organisation

This research strand aims at creating an interdisciplinary dialogue between design and business administration, especially management and organizational studies, to study a variety of topics broadly connected to organizational change. The theme investigates in various ways how wider societal issues, from sustainability, circular economy and digitization to AI, translate into local and specific organizational changes. The conceptual and methodological interdisciplinary dialogue here highlights and elaborates on the role of materiality – high and low tech, digital and mechanical, natural and artificial – in organizational and social change processes.

The Design & Organization research strand considers debates about:

  • Designers and design thinking in organizations
  • Organization of design work/creative work
  • Digitization, including automation, and work
  • Organizing sustainable communities
  • Cultural/creative entrepreneurship

The studies are conducted both with artistic and scientific methods.
