Whose Hand is Making? New dissertation in Crafts

News: Feb 06, 2019

On February 15 doctoral student Frida Hållander defends her dissertation ”Whose Hand is Making? A Sister-Text about Craft, Class, Feminism and the Will to Contest”. She presents her dissertation in Crafts at Konstfack.

Frida Hållander has researched questions of power, resistance, art/crafts and objects. Whose hand is making? And how can we understand craft practices in dialogue with society through making and objects? How do we understand objects that manifest resistance? The dissertation explores craft practices within the fields of ceramics and textile, through the method and form of autoethnography, and on the basis of an intersectional perspective.

Frida Hållander defends her dissertation at Konstfack for a Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Arts at HDK, University of Gothenburg.
