Students exchange programs are actively promoted and pursued at HDK. Exchange studies are open for students whose home university or department has an active exchange agreement with HDK or a university wide agreement with the University of Gothenburg.
If you are a student who is interested in attending HDK as an exchange student for one semester, the very first thing you should do is to check if your home university/department has an exchange agreement with HDK. Do so by getting in touch with your Exchange Coordinator or the International Office at your home university.
In order to apply for an exchange semester at HDK, you must be nominated by your home school/university. Please read more about the application procedure for incoming exchange students here.
Please note that we have two campuses; HDK in Gothenburg and HDK at Steneby in Dals Långed (located about 170 km north of Gothenburg).
You can read more about our campuses and the workshops at the different locations here.
In most of our Bachelor's programmes the official language of instruction is Swedish. However, all students, teachers and staff speak very good English and a summary of the different projects and courses will be given to you in English. Your tutoring sessions will also be held in English. Hence; if you have good knowledge in English there won't be any problem for you to take part in the education.
The official language of instruction in the BA programmes Metal Art and Wood Oriented Furniture Design as well as in all of our MA programmes is English.
The application for the spring term will open in September. Deadline to apply for the spring term 2020 is October 15th 2019.

The spring term 2020 starts January 20th and ends on June 7th, 2020.
The autumn term 2020 starts August 31st and ends on January 17th, 2021. (Exchange students sometimes have the possibility to end their studies in the end of December).
