Play - Everyone is needed

Keep together
Article 2 in the Convention on the Rights of the Child is the ground and the
inspiration for this project. "There is a place for everyone no matters of colour, language,
if you are a boy or a girl, poor or rich, healthy or not.” No child will be discriminated or
treated in a bad way because of how they look like or because of where they come from.
We need to hold together and accept the differences between us.
Those words has been translated into a large, soft puzzle with different pieces. Every piece
symbolize living beings in different shapes and with different backgrounds. No piece looks
the same, but if you try to put them together you will see that they match eachother. Every
piece is important to get the puzzle together.

From seed to flower
Exhibition at the Citymuseum 28/5-1/9 2011.
For Trädgårdsföreningen and their visitors, and other parks in need of playequipment which blends into the surroundings.
Is it possible to make a sculpture more playful? Or is it possible to make play equipment that better blends into its surroundings? Inspiration for this work comes from the garden and its beautiful flowers, from children, as well as fairytales like Thumbelina where the flowers grow large. This climbing frame is intended to create the feeling of a giant flower which the user can climb into. The idea is to create a place in the park that can be interesting for everyone; a place that is beautiful to stay and play, and fun for all ages. Characters made by Hyojung Um.
