Doctoral education

DESMA is an international research network in the field of design management.

The network comprises 13 international early stage researchers, four leading European universities, four design consultancies and four product and service organisations.

DESMA is an interdisciplinary network intended to reformulate design management in both theory and practice to generate new ideas and approaches regarding innovation, social progress and competitiveness. Doing so requires a new take on design that utilises the best of both disciplines (design and management) to create something new and meaningful.

HDK participates in the network through doctoral students Andrew Whitcomb (presented his thesis in 2016) and Ariana Amacker, whose research focus on co-design, design methods and aesthetic experience.
