The programme combines analytical research with practise-based lectures and projects cooperating with business companies and organisations in the region.

Year 1

The first year you will study theory of knowledge, design and marketing, business and organisation and work practically with design in society, design strategy and innovation as well as get to know legal and financial conditions linked to design.

You will conclude with an integrated project where issues in any of the areas are processed with the help of a mentor. Development, application and training of different design methods and creative work in heterogeneous groups as well as a personal learning process are important parts of the first year.

Year 2

You will start the second year with the practical "workshop term” which offers three options.

Firstly, a project in cooperation with companies, organisations or public bodies that provide the opportunity to experiment and investigate, test and develop your acquired knowledge and skills and together with the partner work on innovative concepts in different contexts.

Secondly, this term can be used to study at one of the foreign universities HDK cooperates with.

Thirdly, internships in any type of organisation that help to further understand and practically experience the role of a business & designer are possible.

During the final term you will work on your master thesis project which leads to a Master of Fine Arts (for students with design background only) or a Master of Science.
