The Department of Ceramic Art offers a programme in artistic interpretation, which is based upon clay, ceramic techniques and process. You are taught basic methods with creative exercises in the areas of ceramics in architecture, functional ceramics and ceramics as art objects.

Open discussion covering current attitudes towards art and craft in today's society is a mainstay of the departments teaching methods. This promotes the development of your personal artistic language and creative process in the ceramic medium. Visiting lectures and artists provide the possibility for courses in specialised techniques and an open forum for relevant topics in the form of workshops.

Apart from its standard kilns in the main building in Göteborg, the department has a unique set of wood-fired kilns, including an Anagama kiln, at its annex in Nääs, which is situated 35 km outside of Göteborg.
