Introduction to Research Within the Arts I

The overall purpose and goal is to give students an orientation in terms of history, theory, methodology and publishing with respect to research in the artistic field. The course also aims to put this orientation in relation to the student's artistic practice. The course is cross-artistic and organized in series of seminars that deal with the following areas of research in the artistic field: historical development and theories, orientation and formulation of research questions and research methods. The course also includes the identification of individual research topics on the basis of the student’s own artistic practice.

The course is given every other monday afternoon, autumn semester 2016.

Entry requirements
Degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts 180 credits and at least 60 credits at second cycle level in the artistic field, or the equivalent.

Selection criteria
The selection for admittance to the course is based on a CV, a letter of intent which describes why you want to apply thecourse and 3 images/mediafiles which represents your practice.
