Annika Ekdahl receives the Prince Eugen Medal for outstanding artistic achievement.

Annika Ekdahl, textile artist and former student and former visiting professor in textile art at HDK, receives the Prince Eugen Medal for outstanding artistic achievement.

On November 5 it was announced that Annika Ekdahl receives the Prince Eugen Medal 2013. On the same day as the opening of the price exhibition "Gobelänger" (Tapestries) by Annika Ekdahl on Abecita Art Museum in Borås. In February 2013 Annika Ekdahl was awarded The Nordic Award in Textiles , Europe's largest textile price, for her magnificent tapestries and the way she gives new life to a historic textile genre and technique. During the opening of the exhibition County Governor Lars Bäckström presented the the Nordic Award in Textiles to Annika Ekdahl.

The Prince Eugen Medal was instituted by King Gustav V during Prince Eugen's 80th birthday in 1945. It is awarded for outstanding artistic activities.

This year the following artists receive the medal:
• Textile artist Annika Ekdahl
• Painter Elizabeth Oscarsson
• Painter Bo Swenson
• Sculptor Martti Aiha (Finland)
• Architect Kjetil Trædal Thorsen (Norway)

The medals will be presented on Wednesday 4 December 2013 at 15:30 . List of recipients since 1945.
